Swimsuit Review
Hi there!
Hopefully you made it here after watching my super fun collaboration with Cora of Vintageortacky on our swimsuit lookbook at the Madonna Inn. If you made it here without giving it a watch, check it out below! And don't forget to check out the Behind the Scenes Vlog!

Twinning!
Cora and I chose to twin in the City Chic Brasilia 1 Piece to demonstrate everything she and I are about - the beauty in diverse body types.
And also different styles: Cora is rocking the suit as it was designed, with a symmetry of twists in the front and back in a size XL (US 22). Paired with City Chic's Abbey Wide Fit Block Heel which makes up our height difference.
I'm wearing the suit in a more traditional manner, which only required a bit of tightening of the straps, in a size M (US 18). I chose the low heel City Chic Suzie Flat Wide Fit Sandal, super comfy and poolside friendly.
These suits are classic solid swimsuits, with beautiful back details that add intrigue without competing with such a wild fabric.
This trippy foliage pattern was just perfect for the Madonna Inn.
Cordelia
Tropical Vacation Needed
Maybe it's just me, but the second I saw this suit, I instantly knew what I'd wear if I ever scored a ticket to Jurassic World. I could definitely hang out in the tropics and run for my life in this gorgeous bikini.
The Navy & Green Leaf Halter Cordelia Swim Top and matching bottoms are a bit different than what I've come to expect from Unique Vintage, and I'm a happy camper. The sternum mesh is a really cool detail, and you already know how I feel about the print.
I ordered both pieces in a 3x, and it gives me the perfect amount of room with an ample chest, and the bottoms hug me without squeezing.
Mykonos
A classic with a twist
No boring one pieces here! The Mykonos Underwire 1 Piece from City Chic is a sexy twist on a staple suit. This suit in a City Chic M (US 18) made me feel like Cat Woman on vacation. It was sleek and sexy, without feeling to exposing.
The lace up front is adjustable, but the built in underwire bra keeps you covered.
It's a classic black swimsuit with adjustable straps, and is a surefire way to feel sexy and comfortable while swimming without a ton of fuss.
The shoes are also City Chic! These adorable faux suede Frill Wide Fit Mule were the perfect extra bit of flair. So pleasantly surprised the their size 41 fits my US size 10.5/11 feet perfectly (look at the room at the back)!!!
Aruba
A feminine spin on a masculine print
At first glance the Aruba Frill One Piece Swimsuit from City Chic screams Elvis in Hawaii to me. It has the pattern of a men's traditional Hawaiian shirt, but with the off the shoulder frilled neckline, it's overtly feminine.
I'm wearing this suit in a City Chic size M (US 18). The size feels perfect everywhere except the arms which feel a bit tight. Those with bigger arms may want to size up to avoid red marks from the fringed shoulders.
The thin shoulder straps are removable, adjustable and convertible! I definitely appreciated their addition in helping to keep the girls in place. This suit also has padded bra cups to also aid those who would prefer to wear it strapless.
The ruching helps break up the body's lines for those who do not prefer a skin tight look. You can totally play around with the ruching to best compliment the pattern.
Neon
This two piece is my favorite from the whole shoot.
I commandeered this suit from Cora for the shoot. I'm wearing the Neon Underwire Bikini Top in City Chic size L (US 20) and the Basic Bikini Brief in Size XL (US 22).
The trick with determining your size for the top is all about cup size. The halter top and the back of the suit are all ties, and therefore completely customizable. With a 42E chest, if I was purchasing this suit for myself, I would most likely order a City Chic M.
The top features molded cups and underwire. There is also side-boning for support. Even with all this structure, the suit is incredibly comfortable!
This might just be me, but I prefer ordering a larger bottom for my two pieces. The briefs were so comfortable, and I didn't have any muffin topping when sitting! A carefree confidence-inducing bikini bottom!
Mrs. West & mrs.Cooper
Hello Sailor!
What I love about a brand like Unique Vintage is a focused theme across all their pieces. So many of their swimsuits are designed for a mix and match free for all.
So for these last two suits, Cora shows off two tops she pairs with her Navy Blue Button High Waist Louise Swim Bottoms. And I show the versatility of the Mrs. West White Halter Bikini Swim Top.
I adore this top. It's hard to get decent cleavage in a bikini top, while also being able to actually swim in it, so I made sure to size up to a 3x. This way I have the aesthetic I'm craving with actual functionality. Both the halter top and the unique keyhold back are completely adjustable! So the suit can grow and shrink with you all summer long.
For this look that screams Hello Sailor, I've paired the top with the Mrs. Cooper Navy Pin Dot Sailor Short Swim Bottoms, also in a 3X. They have pockets!!! I don't know why, but they do. They could easily hold some cash or a lipbalm! Just make sure to take stuff out before you... you know.. swim? The buttons hold no function except to be super adorable, and I think they do a swell job!
Phillipa
Red, White & Blue
The Red & White Pin Dot Sailor Phillipa Swim Bottoms are just the thing to make you look like the juiciest piece of pie on the 4th of July.
I again sized up to a 3x, which ensures my comfort lasts throughout the day.
Can you tell I really loved this look?
I love pairing polka dots with a solid top, letting the bottoms be the star.
If only high waisted underwear was as comfy and non-bisecting as these bottoms.
Whether you scoop up the red or blue, you're going to be turning heads in the best way.
Just save me a plate!
